- Pay: The BLS reported that in 2023, medical assistants earned an average pay of $43,350, with the top 10 percent making $56,480 or more. Medical assistants are also expected to see a high increase in demand between now and 2032. In fact, the BLS estimates that there will be about 114,600 job openings for medical assistants each year over the next decade.

Dental Assistants
Like medical assistants, dental assistants also handle a range of administrative and clinical responsibilities. - Pay: The BLS reported that in 2023, dental assistants earned an average pay of $47,350, with the top 10 percent making $61,060 or more. Dental assistants are expected to see an increase in demand, resulting in an anticipated 55,100 job openings each year leading up to 2032.

Medical Records Specialists/Medical Coders
Medical coders, or medical records specialists, create, process, and update patients’ medical records and files. They are responsible for classifying certain medical codes, and recording that information into the healthcare system.
- Pay: The BLS states that in 2023, medical records specialists earned an average pay of $53,690, with the top 10 percent making $77,810 or more. Demand for medical records specialists is expected to increase 8 percent by 2032. This translates to about 15,000 new job openings for medical records specialists each year over the next decade.
