Scholarships For Medical & Healthcare Programs

Medical & Healthcare Scholarships

These scholarships may be applied for by a variety of students across many different medical and healthcare fields.

ASAHP Scholarship of Excellence Program – The purpose of this $1,000 scholarship program is to recognize outstanding students in the allied health professions who are achieving excellence in their academic programs and have the potential to assume future leadership roles in the allied health professions.

Alice Newell Joslyn Medical Scholarship – Offered by the BECA Foundation (a nonprofit Latino scholarship organization). This $500 – $2,000 scholarship requires that the applicant to be entering a medical or healthcare profession such as dental/medical assistant, nursing, physical therapist, or seeking their Bachelor of Science, Master’s, or Doctorate in the health field.

American Medical Technologists Scholarship – Five $500 scholarships each year given to a student in need; therefore, the applicant must provide evidence of financial need. The applicant’s course of study must lead to a career in an American Medical Technologists certified discipline.

Foundation For Seacoast Health Scholarship – Candidates must be from certain seacoast towns in New Hampshire or Maine and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in a health-related field of study. The Foundation for Seacoast Health has awarded over 660 scholarships to 320 individuals totaling over $2.2 million.

Franklin D. Boyce Scholarship – The scholarship amount is $2,500 for students interested in professional health occupations such as nursing, pharmacy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, social work, radiology, and health administration, among others.

Justhomemedical.com Healthcare Leaders Scholarship – Awarding a $1,000 scholarship to one U.S. healthcare student. The winner must be in a healthcare program like nursing, pharmacy, physical therapy, dental, or medical technician.

Navy Health Services Collegiate Program (HSCP) – This is a scholarship program designed to provide financial incentives for students in designated healthcare professions to complete degree/certification requirements and obtain a commission in the Medical Corps (MC), Dental Corps (DC), or Medical Service Corps (MSC).

Nurse.org Healthcare Leaders Scholarship – The $1,000 Healthcare Leaders Scholarship is offered to students entering or currently pursuing an educational program related to nursing or medicine.

Patsy Takemoto Mink Scholarships – Offers 5 education support awards of up to $5,000 each to assist low-income women with children who are pursuing post-secondary education.

Save A Life Health Education Scholarship – The “Save a Life” Scholarship of $1,500 is awarded twice per year. Students currently enrolled in, or applying to enroll within the next academic year, in a degree program in the fields of healthcare or education, at an accredited U.S. university, are eligible to apply.

Scholarships for Disadvantaged Students – This program provides scholarships to full-time, financially needy students from disadvantaged backgrounds, who are enrolled in health professions and nursing programs.

SDMS Foundation Sonography Student Scholarship Program – Two $2,500 scholarships to deserving sonography students who have been accepted or are enrolled in a diagnostic medical sonography or cardiovascular technology program accredited by the CAAHEP.

Medical Assistant Scholarships

Maxine Williams Scholarship (AAMA) – The Maxine Williams Scholarship Fund provides educational assistance to deserving medical assisting students.

Nursing Scholarships

Associate Degree Nursing Scholarship Program (ADNSP) – Students who are awarded the Associate Degree Nursing Scholarship may receive up to $8,000 for one year of school. If awarded, recipients agree to twelve months of full time service in direct patient care at a qualified facility in California.

Bachelor of Science Nursing Scholarship Program (BSNSP) – Students awarded the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Scholarship may receive up to $10,000 for one year of school. Recipients agree to twelve months of practicing full time in direct patient care at a qualified facility in California.

Medical Billing & Coding Scholarships

(Healthcare Information Scholarships)

AHIMA Merit Scholarships – Annual merit scholarships to currently enrolled outstanding undergraduates in HIM and health information technology (HIT) as well professionals pursuing master’s or doctoral degrees in areas related to health information. The different scholarships awarded are between $1,000 and $2,500.

AHIMA Veterans Scholarships – For veteran military service members from the U.S. Armed Forces: Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Reserves, and National Guard. For students pursuing a Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education.

GHIMA Scholarship – GHIMA offers academic scholarships for students enrolled in a CAHIIM accredited AS-Healthcare Information Management, BS-Healthcare Information Management, or MS-Healthcare Information Management degree program and resides in the state of Georgia.

Mary M. Zannis Scholarship – Applicant must be a AHIMA and NYHIMA members in good standing, enrolled either part time or full time in an AHIMA accredited HIA or HIT program in New York State.

Healthcare Administration Scholarships

Albert W. Dent Graduate Student Scholarship – This scholarship is for minority students enrolled in their final year of a healthcare management graduate program. Each scholarship is worth $5,000.

Bachrach Family Scholarship – This $5,000 scholarship is available to full time students in a CAHME accredited residential graduate program in healthcare administration during their second year of the program of study.

Corris Boyd Scholars Program – The student will receive a $40,000 scholarship towards tuition and other expenses at the AUPHA full-member graduate school program of his or her choice.

Elliott C. Roberts Scholarship – Available to first and second year graduate students who are pursuing degrees in healthcare administration or similar program like MBA, MPH, MHA, MPA, MSN, or BSN. This is a $1,000 scholarship.

Florence Gaynor Award – Recognizes outstanding achievements among female graduate students in Healthcare Management and NAHSE. The Award is $2,500.

Gil Dupré Graduate Student Scholarship – One or more scholarships ranging from $2,500 – $10,000 are awarded annually to Louisiana students with strong promise of leadership in the health benefits industry.

Winston Scholarship – This program recognizes the excellence and achievement of students in health administration master’s degree programs by providing up to twenty $10,000 per year scholarships.

Physical Therapy Scholarships

AAPT Scholarship – Any PT or PTA student who is in his/her final year of training is eligible to apply.

Minority Scholarship Award – For physical therapy students currently in their final year of an accredited program, and faculty members pursuing post professional doctoral degrees.

Katherine H. Dilley Scholarship – $1,000 to current undergraduate or graduate students who are pursuing a career in physical or occupational therapy.

AMBUCS Scholarship – Scholarship is up to $6,000. Students must be U.S. citizens accepted in a graduate-level program that is accredited by the appropriate therapy profession authority in physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech language pathology, or hearing audiology.

Mary McMillan Scholarship Award – Students must be nominated from physical therapist professional education programs and physical therapist assistant education programs accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education. $3,000 – $5,000

Veterinary Scholarships

John D. Spurling Scholarship – Individuals pursuing studies in veterinary medicine, veterinary technology, physical therapy, animal care, animal behavior, and grooming and training may be eligible for this grant. Five scholarships per year, totaling $10,000 annually.

Ride and Tie Association Jim Steere Memorial Scholarship – The $1,000 scholarship is awarded to the veterinary student who submits the best short article that is useful for publication in the Ride & Tie Newsletter.

Zoetis Veterinary Student Scholarship Program – For second- and third-year veterinary students.

Each scholarship is $2,000.

Merck Veterinary Student Scholarship Program – Merck Animal Health provides $5,000 scholarships to second- and third-year veterinary students.

Surgical Technology Scholarships

Foundation For Surgical Technology Scholarships – Scholarship to encourage and reward educational excellence by the surgical technology student with financial need and offer assistance to students seeking careers in surgical technology.

Phlebotomy Scholarships

ASCP Laboratory Student Scholarships – The ASCP Foundation offers a $2,000 laboratory student scholarship for undergraduate students and a $2,000 STEM scholarship for high school students.

Medical Social Work Scholarships

Alice M. Yarnold and Samuel Yarnold Scholarship Trust – $1,000 to $5,000 available to New Hampshire residents already in the process of their post-secondary education. You should have the intention of working in New Hampshire as well.

Consuelo W. Gosnell Memorial Scholarship – This scholarship is awarded to master’s degree students in social work who have demonstrated a commitment to working with American Indian/Alaska Native and Hispanic/Latino populations.

Ima Hogg Scholarships – 17 scholarships of $5,000 each to graduate students entering their second year of an accredited social work program in Texas. Students must be pursuing a master’s degree in Social Work at one of 17 Texas graduate programs that are accredited.

NAJA Scholarship – This scholarship program has awarded more than 552 grants totaling over $1,308,504.00 for graduate study in fields addressing the special needs of children and youth.

Radiologic Technology Scholarships

ASRT Scholarships – American Society of Radiologic Technicians Foundation scholarships help entry-level students and professionals get support to achieve a successful career in radiologic technology.

ARRS Scholarship – Scholarships to support early-career faculty members in study/research in the radiologic sciences. The ARRS Roentgen Fund Board of Trustees may select up to two $180,000 awards annually.

Pharmacy Technology Scholarships

NCPA Foundation J.C. and Rheba Cobb Memorial Scholarship – All pharmacy students who are NCPA student members are eligible to apply for ONE of the NCPA Foundation Scholarships per academic year.
